Recovery Gear

Every 4WD gets stuck eventually, whether in soft sand, deep mud or on a slippery climb. Carrying the right recovery gear, and knowing how to use it, turns a long wait into a short delay.

Winches

Winches make up most of this collection. A winch lets you recover yourself without another vehicle, which matters when you travel solo or in remote areas. Brands include Carbon Offroad, Offroad Animal, Offroad Armour and Ultra Winch.

Offroad jacks

Titan Terrain offroad jacks lift a high-riding vehicle on uneven ground, which helps when you need to pack under a bogged wheel or change a tyre on the track.

Recovery accessories

Raslarr Engineering, Canna Fabrication and PSR add recovery gear such as recovery points. Always use rated recovery points, never a tow ball, for snatch or winch recoveries.

A basic recovery kit

• A winch or a recovery strap, with rated shackles
• Rated recovery points front and rear
• An offroad jack and base plate
• Gloves and a winch damper
