Front struts for 4WDs and utes

If your ute or wagon has independent front suspension, the front strut does two jobs: it holds the coil spring and it damps the movement of the wheel. When it wears or can't cope with the load, steering feel and ride quality suffer.

Replacement or upgrade?

A like-for-like strut restores factory ride on a vehicle that's mostly used on the road. If you're carrying a bull bar, winch or touring gear, an uprated strut with a firmer spring holds the front end up and copes better with rough roads.
