Nissan Patrol GQ TD42 GTX28 Turbo Kit - HPD

Fitment: Turbo kit for the naturally aspirated GQ Patrol TD42; select the airbox fitted to your vehicle when ordering.

EXHAUST:

When we designed and built this turbo kit we used an OEM style cast log manifold with a T3 base plate design allowing us to run Garrett GTX28/60 GENii turbochargers for performance and reliability.

This setup is complimented with a custom HPD 3” dump pipe with an EGT sensor provision for those who choose to run a Exhaust Gas Temperature probe for keeping an eye on exhaust temps. The benefit to this dump pipe is that it allows the owner to run most turbo GU aftermarket exhaust systems as a direct bolt on. These GU systems will have a 3 bolt flange at the base of the dump pipe.

AIRBOX:

This kit has multiple options to suit various airboxs. In standard form this will utilize your GQ Pre filter housing which will require you to install an air filter. Alternatively you can select the kit to suit an upgraded airbox such as the GU or alternatively exclude the inlet piping for other custom airboxes and create your own pipework.

INTERCOOLING:

Intercooling your turbo kit is important if you are looking to run more that 8-10psi of boost, however which intercooler to choose depends on a couple of things.

If you intend on towing a large load, live in a hot arid climate or decide to run a larger turbo option, then we suggest you should run either of our series 2 intercoolers as they are bigger and capable of a larger volume of air with a higher thermal efficiency operating at these more aggressive conditions.

Should you be looking to go from N/A to Turbocharged and not looking to push your vehicle past 110-120kw mark and are running our standard turbo option, then a series 1 intercooler should be a good setup.

Below is a link to the 4 intercoolers offered in this kit so you can make an informed decision on which combination is right for you.

SERIES 1 TOP MOUNT INTERCOOLER – IK-GQ42-T

SERIES 1 FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER – IK-GQ42-F

SERIES 2 TOP MOUNT INTERCOOLER – IK-GQ42P-T

SERIES 2 FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER(450mm CORE) – IK-GQ424-F

SERIES 2 FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER(600mm CORE) – IK-GQ426-F

TURBOS:

The turbocharger that is supplied as the base option for the GQ TD42 direct fit turbo kit is the GTX2860 GENii by Garrett.

We have found that this turbocharger compliments the characteristics of the 4.2ltr TD42 motor very well. Combining a fast spool rate with reliable power and substantial torque we feel like this option will satisfy 90% of customers looking for better towing capability, highway speeds and general 4wd application.

Should you be looking for a little more power, torque and performance the next step up from Garretts GT series is the new GTX Gen ii series. These turbos move some serious air speed and are capable of running from 20-30psi all day. Not only are they capable of higher boost application but they also spool up faster, hold boost longer and have a billet compressor wheel hidden inside. Another new feature is the added provision for a compressor wheel speed sensor and anti-surge slots meaning Better performance across the board.

PLEASE NOTE: SHOULD YOU DECIDE TO RUN A LARGER GTX TURBOCHARGER YOU WILL REQUIRE THE CORRECT SUPPORTING MODIFICATIONS TO SUPPORT THE ADDED DIESEL, LOAD AND POWER. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS PLEASE CALL 08 8299 0320 AND SPEAK TO ONE OF OUR FRIENDLY SALES MEMBERS.
